Celia R. Caputi

Celia R. Caputi, PhD., is Professor of English at The Florida State University; her faculty webpage outlines a distinguished record of publication – including two Cambridge University Press monographs and two collaborative volumes – in the fields of Shakespeare / Renaissance Studies, Feminist Criticism and Theory, Cultural Studies, and Italianità. Although of Italian descent, she learned the language late in life but quickly made up for lost time: her autobiographical essay, Come l’ago della bussola, earned her recognition as a semi-finalist in the literary competition connected to the Salon del Libro di Torino. That essay is the only work by a North American in the anthology Lingua madre duemilatredici: racconti di donne straniere in Italia. When she is not visiting her friends in the Mezzogiorno, she lives in North Florida with her cat Bliss. «Some Strange Music» is her first novel.
